Using the synthophone (all-digital saxophone), Randy Felts will present examples of the huge world of new sounds available to the contemporary saxophonist.

Learn how the synthophone works and how you can use it to control any MIDI-capable keyboard, sound module, or laptop software. Explore the harmony capabilities of the synthophone and see how its sax-based phrasing can make electronic sounds of all kinds sound more musical. Come hear the synthophone make the sounds of a string ensemble, a drum kit, a vocal ensemble, or an entire band.

Randy Felts is an associate professor in the Harmony Department at Berklee and a veteran saxophonist. He has played concerts all over New England as soloist/music director for Harvey Robbins's Doo Wop Hall of Fame concert series and has played the synthophone since 1987.
