Berklee Summer in the CityJoanna Teters
With a grace and depth of soul beyond her years, and roots deep in reggae, hip-hop, jazz, and funk, Joanna Teters turns heads whenever she starts to sing. Her abilities were recognized early on when, as a first year student at Berklee College of Music, she performed in 2010 as a featured soloist at Boston Symphony Hall with the internationally renowned Rhythm of the Universe project. The spring 2011 release of her debut album with the jazz/R&B group the Joanna Teters Experiment was received with great enthusiasm, and earned her the privilege of opening for top jazz vocalist Gretchen Parlato at the Falcon. She played to packed houses this winter in Puerto Rico as lead vocalist with the reggae/soul/jazz band Da Bone, and her tribute to Erykah Badu launched her following there. She is honored to represent Berklee this summer at the South Shore Summer Series, where she will be joined by her soul/jazz/R&B group Mad Satta, previously known as the Joanna Teters Experiment.
