Mary Lorson / Megan Reilly / Mia Friedman
Singer, composer, guitarist, keyboardist, and writer Mary Lorson began her recording career 20 years ago on Atlantic Records as the lead vocalist of the noisepop band Madder Rose. Since then, she's steered the jazzy artrock group Saint Low, scored several films, and collaborated on other dramatic and musical projects. Tied together thematically by Lorson's interest in culture and attitudes, her arrangements are sober, whimsical, layered, spare, damning, and forgiving.
After a five-year wait, Megan Reilly returns with her captivating new album, The Well, which holds a creative leap born of great, unexpected personal transformation. Reilly's country-tinged coo and warble can still turn on a dime to a hair-raising growl.
