Songwriters' Night

Monday / April 7, 2008 / 8:15 p.m.
Berklee Performance Center
136 Massachusetts Avenue
United States

The twelve winning songs from the annual Songwriters Competition held during the fall semester make up this concert's program. Most of the songs are sung by the songwriters that wrote them, so these performances are imbued with a rare sense of purpose, direction, and authenticity. The styles of the songs vary from folkish to hard rock, with the majority of them quite personal and intimate. The ensembles vary from a trio to an ensemble that includes a gospel choir and another that includes a large string ensemble, including harp. Directed by Songwriting Department chair Jack Perricone and professor Jon Aldrich.
