Berklee's Vocal Music Summit and Stage Performance Workshop presents a unique opportunity for singers of all styles to enjoy an up-close-and-personal evening of Q&A with award-winning singer, vocal coach, vocal arranger, actor, and producer Debra Byrd American Idol's "Starmaker." Singers who attend will receive valuable, motivating information that will propel them to deliver their best performance.
Byrd's wealth of vocal knowledge and unique ability to provide "vocal help now have been demonstrated through all of Idol's 10 seasons as well as on numerous other television shows, national workshops, and private lessons.
Byrd is a Berklee artist-in-residence who has recorded and/or performed with Barry Manilow, Bob Dylan, the Eurythmics, UB40, Lyle Lovett, and Roberta Flack. She starred in the national touring company of Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk as "Da Singer," and has been featured on Broadway in The Human Comedy, Barry Manilow on Broadway, and Haarlem Nocturne, and both the national tour and Broadway productions of Ain’t Misbehavin’. Byrd was nominated for a Black Theatre Alliance Award for Best Actress in a Musical for Could It Be Magic? Her voice has been featured in countless movie soundtracks and commercial voiceovers as well. Byrd is currently taping the Hub Network’s Majors and Minors, which airs in the Fall 2011.
