Dave Douglas Meets the Westerlies is a fresh collaboration featuring trumpeter and composer Dave Douglas, the brass quartet known as the Westerlies, and drummer extraordinaire Anwar Marshall from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The Westerlies is composed of four childhood friends from Seattle, Washington: Riley Mulherkar on trumpet, Zubin Hensler on trumpet, Andy Clausen on trombone, and Willem de Koch on trombone.
The new music Douglas has written for the group is full of power and soul, exploring great American themes in a rich panoply of warm brass sounds.
