Choir of Young Believers

Daughter is vocalist/guitarist Elena Tonra, electric guitarist Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguila. Together, the trio writes dark, ethereal, and hauntingly beautiful songs that showcase a group of young musicians experimenting delicately with a rich array of songwriting ideas and yet remain intent on pouring out their souls pure and unadulterated.

Described by Mojo Magazine as, “unflinchingly honest and hugely captivating,”  Daughter came together in 2010, and has watched its star gently rise, collecting fans one-by-one as its demo tracks started to spread among enthusiastic friends and bloggers.
In April 2010, Daughter self-released its debut EP, His Young Heart. Since its release, Daughter has caught the attention of critics and fans alike. In August of 2011, the breathtaking, “Landfill,” was hand-picked by iTunes for its powerful “Spotlight” feature, garnering the band more fans as it watched its songs climb the iTunes singer-songwriter charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Featured as Vogue magazine’s Artist of the Week, the band was described this way: “Daughter masterfully blends fluttering, heart-on-the-sleeve acoustic ballads with brooding, ambient soundcapes..."

Choir of Young Believers is the musical project of singer, writer, and guitarist Jannis Noya Makrigiannis from Copenhagen, Denmark. The band, which consists of Makrigiannis along with a rotating cast of supporting players, has had multiple No. 1 hits in its home country and was named the "Best New Act" at the 2009 Danish Music Awards. COYB’s music combines folk melodies, orchestral instrumentation, and dark lyrics.
