This Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) workshop features its artistic director, pianist and composer Danilo Pérez.

A Grammy Award–winning pianist and composer, Pérez was born in Panama in 1965, attended Berklee in the 1980s, and has led his own groups since the early 1990s. In addition to his role as artistic director of the BGJI, Pérez serves as a UNESCO Artist for Peace, cultural ambassador for Panama, and artistic director of the Panama Jazz Festival.

The BGJI is a performance program designed to foster creativity and musicianship through various musical disciplines. The BGJI provides a comprehensive contemporary music environment where students are given opportunities to explore their creativity to the highest level possible, advance the power of music as a tool for the betterment of society, and connect musical creative thinking with the natural environment.
