Daniel Toledo

This workshop with Ecuadorian bassist and composer Daniel Toledo will focus on the role of the bass in a piano trio setting and on composing from the bass perspective. Toledo graduated from Berklee in 2014 with a Master of Music in Contemporary Performance. He became a part of the College of Music at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, where he did most of his training, at an early age, and now he’s a full-time professor there, teaching bass and ensembles.

Winner of the 2010 Jazz Envoys, he has played at the Kennedy Center and has been active working with the U.S. Embassy and the Department of State. He has performed with artists such as Victor Mendoza, Perico Sambeat, Ted Lo, and Polo Ortí, among others, and has played in South America, North America, Asia, and Europe. In the last few years, he has also presented workshops in countries like Brazil, Chile, and Ecuador. Toledo's debut album, Elapse, with Piotr Orzechowski and Joshua Wheatley, was released in October of 2014 to high acclaim in different countries in South America and Europe.
