In Dances for Spring, the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra (BCSO) presents an assortment of symphonic music by Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, David Popper, Giacomo Puccini, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and Edward Elgar. This will be an exciting and beautiful blend of fan favorites such as the "Introduction and Finale" to Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky and "Symphonic Dances" from West Side Story by Bernstein.

The BCSO is a full symphony ensemble committed to the art of orchestra playing that honors the past, present, and future. In addition to great compositions of the past, the BCSO's repertoire includes original compositions by Berklee faculty and students, as well as contemporary music from around the globe and from burgeoning genres such as film and video game scores.

For this concert, the program is lively with selections of dance music that many classical music listeners already will have heard. The orchestra also has chosen to include the emotional intimacy of Puccini's "Intermezzo" from the opera Manon Lescaut and "Nimrod" from Elgar's Enigma Variations as a way for listeners to breathe in between the pieces.
