From Seattle, Washington, pianist Danae Greenfield was just 18 months old when her tiny, untrained fingers tapped out sounds and patterns on the battery-operated, single-octave toy keyboard her parents gave her. At the age of six, she began taking classical piano lessons. While she enjoyed learning pieces by Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart, it was the occasional jazz tune, sprinkled into her usual repertoire, that set her heart racing and feet tapping. At age 12, Greenfield decided to switch from classical to jazz piano lessons, and has been pursuing that style ever since.

In 2013, Greenfield entered Berklee College of Music on a full-tuition scholarship. She has studied with Lin Biviano, Alain Mallet, Joanne Brackeen, Tia Fuller, and Dave Santoro, among others. She has had the privilege of sharing the stage with Chick Corea, Ambrose Akinmusire, Tia Fuller, and Jason Palmer. Though primarily a jazz pianist, Greenfield actively performs in the styles of funk, hip-hop, reggae, and R&B, among others. Greenfield recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree in both Performance and Professional Music, with the goal of continuing her development as a pianist and performer of creative music.
