In this concert/clinic titled "Creative Paths in Duo Playing," Marco Pignataro and Nando Michelin discuss the possibilities and challenges of playing and improvising creatively in a duo setting.

Pignataro is a multi-talented saxophone player, composer and educator from Bologna, Italy. Pignataro has shared stages with artists such as Eddie Gomez, Joanne Brackeen, Danilo Pérez, Billy Hart, and George Garzone, among many others. Together with Danilo Pérez, he currently leads the Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI). His latest album, Sofia's Heart, was produced by jazz legend Eddie Gomez and recorded with a stellar group including Gomez and Billy Drummond. He is also a member of the Eddie Gomez Quintet and his work is showcased on the quintet’s recently released album for BFM Jazz, Per Sempre.

After a very successful career in his homeland Uruguay, Nando Michelin came to Boston to continue developing his skills as a piano player and composer at Berklee. Upon graduating, in 1991, he recorded some of his original music for Perro Andaluz, an Uruguayan label, and that set the direction he was to take. Since then, he has recorded for Brownstone and Double Time. His music has received wide press acclaim, with Jazz Times calling an album he recorded for Double Time, Art, “an ear-grabbing gallery of breath-taking originals.”
