This clinic, featuring John Edward Hasse, Herb Alpert Scholar-in-Residence in the Professional Education Division at Berklee College of Music, explores the life and music of Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong, one of America’s pioneers of jazz.

Armstrong is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, which is celebrating its tricentennial. Hasse, curator emeritus of American music at the Smithsonian, will help attendees experience New Orleans and American jazz music history through his insights and Armstrong’s music.

The event is hosted by Sean P. Hagon, chair of the Professional Music Department.
