This guitar symposium presents two days of performance, clinics, panels, master classes, and private lessons exploring classical and fingerstyle traditions in modern practice. In this clinic, visiting artists Berta Rojas and Andrew York will share the stage with Berklee Guitar Department faculty and student ensembles to present their approaches to these styles in performance. The clinic will include performances by faculty Kim Perlak, Abby Aronson, David Tronzo, Guy Van Duser, Bobby Stanton, David Newsam, and Lyle Brewer along with performances by the Joni Mitchell Ensemble, the Chet Atkins Ensemble, and the Contemporary Classical Ensemble.

Berta Rojas has been honored as a Fellow of the Americas by the Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts. A three-time Latin Grammy nominee, Rojas is recognized as a classical guitarist of the highest level for her solo playing and her collaborations with artists such as Paquito D'Rivera.

Andrew York is a celebrated classical guitarist-composer. He is a Grammy-winning artist with the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet and the Atlanta Symphony. His music crosses stylistic boundaries, expressing his background in jazz, which includes studies with Lenny Breau. His works have been recorded by John Williams, Sharon Isbin, and Jason Vieux.
