Boston Conservatory Chamber Series continues its exploration of what classical music means to different people and cultures across the world. Through works written by classical composers who were deeply rooted in the cultural landscape of their upbringing and through traditional pieces performed by Silkroad artists and Boston Conservatory students, this Chamber Series concert celebrates music from all corners of the world.

About the Artists
Mike Block, of Silkroad, is a pioneering cello player, singer, composer, and educator who is passionate about cross-cultural collaboration through music, and is committed to inspiring individuals and connecting communities. He has collaborated with several renowned artists, including Indian tabla player Sandeep Das, Malian balafon player Balla Kouyate, mandolin player Joe K. Walsh, bassist Zachariah Hickman, and more. Sally Pinkas, piano, is an acclaimed soloist and chamber musician who has performed throughout the world, most notably giving the first-ever performance of Beethoven's Emperor Concerto in Bandung, Indonesia, and premiering George Rochberg's monumental Circles of Fire in Nigeria and Russia. Kaoru Watanabe, of Silkroad, is a Brooklyn-based composer and musician who specializes in Japanese shinobue flutes and taiko drums. A versatile artist, he has collaborated with visionaries such as Jason Moran, Yo-Yo Ma, Spanish flamenco dancer Eva Yerbabuena, visual artists Simone Leigh and Alyson Shotz, calligrapher Koji Kakinuma, Japanese National Living Treasure Bando Tamasaburo, vocalists Alicia Hall Moran and Imani Uzuri, tap dancers Tamango and Kazunori Kumagai, Galician bagpiper Carlos Nuñez, and several others.
