In this workshop, Ciara Moser will talk about the strategies she uses as a blind musician and about her life as a person with different ability in general. She will focus on the topics of memorization, ear training, and orientation on the instrument. Attendees will learn new approaches to playing, learning, and internalizing music and find some tips and tricks to use in their own practice routine and in a professional performance/rehearsal setting.

Ciara was born 1996 in Dublin, Ireland. As a multitalented blind musician playing several instruments, she dedicated herself to her real love, the bass guitar, at the age of 14. Ciara passed her bachelor exams at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria with first-class honors. She is currently involved in various band and studio projects with artists such as Danilo and Patricia Pérez, and offers online and in-person lessons in bass, ear training, composition, music theory, and more.

Ciara completed her master’s degree at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. She has performed at many international jazz festivals, and since March 2019 has had her own podcast called “Blind. So What?” in which she talks about daily life as a blind person.
