Birds Songs, Messiaen, Microtones, and J Dilla

This concert, produced by the Planet MicroJam Institute, will feature students and faculty engaging some of the bird call sources in Olivier Messiaen’s music and how this has inspired David Fiuczynski’s Guggenheim Fellowship composition "Flam! Pan-Asian MicroJam for J Dilla and Olivier Messiaen," where all melodies are based on microtonal bird song transcription.
