This Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) forum features Joe Lovano and Kenny Werner. 

Grammy-­winning saxophonist, composer, and arranger Lovano attended Berklee in the early 1970s and received an honorary doctor of music degree from the college in 1998. He has collaborated with many legendary musicians, including McCoy Tyner, Hank Jones, Joshua Redman, Bill Frisell, Branford Marsalis, Jim Hall, and Paul Motian. 

Kenny Werner has been a world-­class pianist and composer for more than 40 years. In 1996 he wrote his landmark book, Effortless Mastery, Liberating the Master Musician Within. He currently teaches at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute and Effortless Mastery Institute. Werner earned the 2010 Guggenheim Fellowship Award and the National Endowment for the Arts in ’85, ’87, ’93, and ’95. 

The BGJI is a performance program designed to foster creativity and musicianship through various musical disciplines. The BGJI provides a comprehensive contemporary music environment where students are given opportunities to explore their creativity to the highest level possible, advance the power of music as a tool for the betterment of society, and connect musical creative thinking with the natural environment.
