This Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) forum features David Liebman, a prolific NEA Jazz Master that DownBeat notes is "among the most important saxophonists in contemporary music." Over the course of the past four decades, Liebman has worked with incomparable artists such as Miles Davis '97H, Elvin Jones, Chick Corea '97H, John McLaughlin '17H, and Joe Lovano '72 '88H. He has participated in more than 600 recordings, including hundreds of releases as a bandleader or co-leader.

Liebman, a renowned educator, is also the founder of the International Association of Schools of Jazz, a worldwide network of jazz students, teachers, and representatives from 40 countries. He is the author of several books, including Self Portrait of a Jazz Artist, A Chromatic Approach to Jazz Harmony and Melody, and Developing a Personal Saxophone Sound, which has been translated into multiple languages. Scarecrow Press has released a Liebman biography, What It Is: The Life of a Jazz Artist.

The Berklee Global Jazz Institute is a performance program designed to foster creativity and musicianship through various musical disciplines, with pianist and composer Danilo Pérez as its artistic director. The BGJI provides a comprehensive contemporary music environment where students are given opportunities to explore their creativity to the highest level possible, advance the power of music as a tool for the betterment of society, and connect musical creative thinking with the natural environment.
