This Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) forum features Danilo Pérez and Kenny Werner. 

Grammy­-Award winning pianist and composer, Danilo Perez was born in Panama in 1965, went to Berklee in the 1980s and has led his own groups since the early 1990s. In addition to his role as artistic director of the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, Pérez serves as a UNESCO Artist for Peace, a cultural ambassador for Panama, and as artistic director of the Panama Jazz Festival. 

Kenny Werner has been a world-­class pianist and composer for over forty years. In 1996 he wrote his landmark book, Effortless Mastery, Liberating The Master Musician Within. He currently teaches at Berklee College of Music, Berklee Global Jazz Institute and Effortless Mastery Institute. Kenny was awarded the 2010 Guggenheim Fellowship Award and the National Endowment for the Arts in ’85, ’87, ’93, and ’95. 

The BGJI is a performance program designed to foster creativity and musicianship through various musical disciplines. The BGJI provides a comprehensive contemporary music environment where students are given opportunities to explore their creativity to the highest-­level possible, advance the power of music as a tool for the betterment of society, and connect musical creative thinking with the natural environment.
