This Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) forum features Danilo Pérez and Joe Lovano.

Grammy Award-winning pianist and composer Danilo Perez was born in Panama in 1965, went to Berklee in the 1980s, and has led his own groups since the early 1990s. In addition to his role as artistic director of the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, Pérez serves as a UNESCO Artist for Peace, a cultural ambassador for Panama, and as artistic director of the Panama Jazz Festival. 

Grammy-­winning saxophonist, composer, and arranger Joe Lovano attended Berklee in the early 1970s and received an honorary doctor of music degree from the college in 1998. He has collaborated with many legendary musicians, including McCoy Tyner, Hank Jones, Joshua Redman, Bill Frisell, Branford Marsalis, and others. 

The BGJI is a performance program designed to foster creativity and musicianship through various musical disciplines. The BGJI provides a comprehensive contemporary music environment where students are given opportunities to explore their creativity to the highest level possible, advance the power of music as a tool for the betterment of society, and connect musical creative thinking with the natural environment.
