Students and Alejandro Sanz at the Latin Grammys
Thirty Berklee students from 14 countries have been invited (by Javier Limón, artistic director of Berklee’s Mediterranean Music Institute) to perform alongside Alejandro Sanz during the 2013 Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas. Berklee students previously performed with Sanz on November 6, 2013, when he received an honorary doctor of music degree from Berklee. Sanz also presented a clinic for Berklee students.
The Latin Grammys will air on the Univision television network. Berklee alumni and faculty are nominated for 12 Latin Grammy Awards this year. The Berklee students who will perform at the Latin Grammys hail from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Mexico, Palestine, Peru, Spain, United States, and Venezuela.
“A few weeks ago, I had the honor of introducing my dear friend Alejandro Sanz to the Berklee community in the best way he deserves, and now the magic continues with this special trip to the Latin Grammys with 30 exceptional students from Berklee," says Limón. "These are the kinds of initiatives led by the Mediterranean Music Institute.”
