With the theme Love Supreme, the ninth annual Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) Summit will celebrate the impact of William Shakespeare, Maya Angelou, Geri Allen, Kahlil Gibran, Gabriela Mistral, John Coltrane, and Martin Luther King Jr. on today’s global jazz era.

The concert will feature Danilo Pérez, BGJI founder and artistic director; Terri Lyne Carrington, Zildjian chair in performance; Joe Lovano, the Gary Burton chair in jazz performance; John Patitucci, visiting scholar in performance studies; and other special guests as well as BGJI ensembles.

Boston Conservatory at Berklee's Theater Division will participate as part of its Merge/Emerge Creativity Intensive, led by Tina Packer, founding artistic director of Shakespeare & Company. Merge/Emerge is a set of collaborations with guest artists; the Theater, Dance, and Music divisions of the Conservatory; and BGJI that artistically explores the recent merger between the College and the Conservatory through interdisciplinary work.
