Maria Rowinska graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in performance and a minor in performance studies in Latin music. She fell in love with Brazilian samba, bossa nova, and Cuban son and bolero at a young age—she grew up listening to her father play the melodies and rhythms on his guitar. Her formal musical study began at age 6, when she began studying classical piano. In her teenage years she began to perform publicly—singing rather than playing—and realized that her voice was her instrument.

Angel Sierra found his musical identity somewhere between his home country of Puerto Rico and the mainland United States. Ranging from bomba y plena to R&B, hip-hop, and funk, his work fuses the many cultures that make up his identity.

Rowinska and Sierra have found complementary partners in each other, as each searches to combine the Latin and American musical influences to which they have been exposed. This project highlights the combination, bringing together Puerto Rico, Brazil, Cuba, and the U.S. in their blend of Latin, jazz, and R&B.
