The mother-son duo of Amal Murkus and Firas Zreik will be accompanied by the Maqam-Fusion Ensemble (under the direction of Zreik) and the Center for Arabic Culture (CAC) Arabic Children’s Choir (under the direction of Alma Richeh).

Murkus is a leading Palestinian singer and actress from the Galilee who has devoted her career to promoting Palestinian music and culture. Murkus has created and released five albums, all inspired by authentic Arab and Palestinian poetry and harmonies, and has performed around the world.

Zreik, the concert’s musical director, is a Palestinian kanun (lap harp) player and composer. He is double-majoring in jazz composition and performance at Berklee College of Music.

The CAC Arabic Children’s Choir is the first Arab American choir in Massachusetts.
