Alexis Newman is a 21-year-old singer, songwriter, and performer from Yonkers, New York. She is currently attending Berklee as a vocal performance major. Since being at Berklee, Newman has been able to open up for numerous artists such as Brian McKnight with the Divas as well as Aloe Blacc, Bilal, and Chris Turner with the Neo Soul Ensemble during a Marvin Gaye Tribute. She also performed background vocals for Aloe Blacc, Bilal and Chris Turner during the tribute. Additionally, she has sung backgrounds for R&B singer Ledisi. In the fall of 2015, Newman joined the band Clique as the female lead singer and band leader, performing all around New England. Most recently, Newman performed with Beyonce's original all female band in March of 2017. Newman has also had the opportunity to perform during half time at a New York Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Garden as well as perform background vocals with a choir for Susan Boyle on the Today Show, at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting, and on the Larry King Show. She has performed at a number of venues in New York City including CrashMansion, the Bitter End, the Village Underground, Dillons Cabaret, Triads, Arthur's Tavern in Greenwich Village, and the Cutting Room, where she was accompanied by John Stamos on drums and Richie Cannata, Billy Joel's former sax player. She has also performed at the New York City Marathon. Newman has performed at the House of Blues in Boston, as well as at numerous venues in the New England area. She holds the titles of Yonkers Idol 2012, Westchester Teen Idol 2010, and the first Yonkers Jr. Idol in 2008, to name a few. Newman has been recording her original music to release her EP and is excited to see where this takes her and her music.
