With a 42-year career and 39 album releases to her credit, Cuevas is beloved for her unswerving devotion to traditional mariachi music and for her mastery of its demanding vocal forms. She has received one Grammy Award and one Latin Grammy Award, as well as seven Latin Grammy nominations
Cuevas became the first female singer in the mariachi genre to win a Grammy when she was honored in 2018 for best regional Mexican music album for Arrieros Somos (Versiones Acústicas), a collection of acoustic versions of Mexican classics by renowned composer Cuco Sánchez.
