Gone to the Village is a presentation of contemporary and traditional West African music, performed by students from Berklee College of Music and the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, with special guest Attah Poku, royal drummer of the Asante region of Ghana. The performance is directed by Berklee percussion professor Joe Galeota.

Steeped in tradition, West African music and dance has permeated today’s global music scene; its powerful driving forces can be felt on the world music stage. Meanwhile, in the village, men and women keep their traditions alive, celebrating songs of their ancestors.
