"My relationship with Berklee began with the World Scholarship Tour, North America. I spent countless hours preparing for the audition, and when I got there I was very nervous. To make things worse, the person auditioning me was Bill Pierce, one of the best-known saxophonists in the country. After my audition I had time to talk to him along with some of the other Berklee faculty, and from what I saw and heard I just knew that Berklee was definitely the place for me."

"My first encounter with Berklee was at a clinic in Frydlant, Czech Republic. It was a unique experience for me because I grew up in a part of Central Europe where most musicians are self-taught. Attending this clinic, I was exposed to a very effective and innovative approach to teaching jazz, and, at the same time, I had a chance to meet some really great teachers and players. I believe that the importance of Berklee's international clinics is just as significant as the existence of the school itself, and I find it very enriching that Berklee can bring American music to other (sometimes very distant) parts of the world."

"When I arrived for my audition I thought I would be nervous, but the audition team made me feel very comfortable. I just enjoyed it. I never imagined that these teachers would also become my friends. They all take a serious interest in what I am doing as a writer and performer."

"Auditioning for the World Scholarship Tour was quite an experience. I was a little nervous initially, but the faculty on the audition panel made me feel right at home. Once I realized that it was just another opportunity to perform and have a good time, I was able to relax and enjoy making music."

"In the fall of 1996, when I was a senior in high school, I auditioned for the North American Scholarship Tour. It was the first serious audition I had ever taken, and, looking back, I'm glad the first was Berklee. Everyone made me feel so comfortable that I really wasn't nervous at all. I found out the results very soon after that, and my decision was made. I was on my way to Berklee."

"When I got my scholarship from Berklee at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, at first I thought I was dreaming. Then I realized that this was an opportunity to build my career. I started believing in myself as a musician. Since that moment my life has changed. Now, after two semesters, I feel more mature and prepared. But I won't stop here. I want to become better and better, and Berklee has given me the chance."
