Commencement Accessibility Guide for Agganis Arena at Boston University

Graduates or their guests planning to attend any of the commencement events at the Agganis Arena at Boston University who may need special accessibility accommodations should fill out the Accessibility Request Form. Guests are encouraged to provide as much advance notice as possible prior to the start of an event to ensure that their request for special assistance may be met. The Agganis Arena offers the following services to guests with disabilities.

Accessible Seating

The Agganis Arena offers accessible and companion seating located on the concourse and event levels for all events (accessible seating locations are subject to change based on the seating configuration for various events).

Drop-Off Location/Main Lobby Entrance

The accessible drop-off location is located on the corner of Harry Agganis Way and Commonwealth Avenue. The main lobby entrance is accessible to guests with disabilities as are all arena entrances, hallways, and pathways.

Parking

Accessible parking spaces are available in all parking lots associated with the arena. A parking map is available for your assistance.

Elevators

Guests with disabilities receive preferential access to elevators during all arena events. The Agganis Arena has four passenger elevators: two in the southeast corner of the arena serving Lot A and one each in the southwest and northwest corners of the arena providing access from the arena lobby to the concourse level.

Restrooms

All public restrooms are equipped with accessible sinks, stalls, and amenities. There are 15 public restrooms located throughout the arena. Nine public restrooms are located on the concourse level, four are located on the entry level, and two are located on the event level. All public restrooms are equipped with baby-changing stations and are accessible to guests in wheelchairs.

Assisted Listening Devices (ALD)

ALDs are free of charge and available for all events, courtesy of Guest Services. These devices will be available at the ADA table in the main lobby for your use. For security purposes, a valid driver's license or major credit card is required and will be returned when the listening devices are returned to Guest Services. Also available is a text messaging service in which the announcements are sent to a handheld device for the guest to read. This service is free of charge but requires the guest to give 48 hours notice prior to the event. In addition to ALD, transcribed text from the ceremony will be projected onto the video screens in the arena.

Sign Interpreters

The arena offers interpretive services to guests with hearing disabilities. Due to the preparation necessary to ensure high-quality interpretation, any request for interpretive services must be made at least 10 days prior to an event and approved by arena management.

Service Dogs

Service dogs that assist guests with disabilities are welcome in the arena. Service dogs must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times.
