Catherine Goldwyn, a California native, has played piano and guitar since childhood and attended Berklee
College of Music in the early 1970s, where she studied arranging and composition. During her years in
Boston, she raised four children, worked as a self-taught portrait photographer, and received a degree in
natural science from Harvard University.
In 2000, Goldwyn moved from Boston back to her hometown of Los Angeles and created Sound Art, a California nonprofit organization that brings music education to the most challenged areas of Los Angeles. Since 2002, Sound Art has brought music education and enrichment to 7,000 children in L.A.'s inner-city neighborhoods.
