  Energy

  The college has reduced its energy use by 8% since 2006, by updating lighting systems; installing automatic controls for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment; and upgrading to more efficient appliances. More

  Buildings

  Buildings are generally the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions on campus, and therefore the primary target for reduction. Berklee’s upcoming building at 168 Mass. Ave. will be designed by William Rawn Architects, designers of the LEED Platinum Cambridge Public Library, and will feature sustainable elements. More

  Berklee's dining services provider, Aramark, makes sustainability a cornerstone of their operations, offering local and vegan food, composting, and limiting disposables with reusable-to-go containers. More

• Waste

  Berklee has reduced its total waste and diverted waste from landfills by recycling and composting. More

• Transportation

  The college encourages students and staff to displace car trips with walking, biking, and public transportation, and to avoid traveling when possible by telecommuting and using flex time. More

• Purchasing

  Berklee's purchasing policies ensure it buys nontoxic cleaning products, recycled paper, and products from local businesses.
