The three tracks of the Mark O'Connor/Berklee College of Music Summer String Program are designed to accommodate players across a wide range of ages and achievement levels. See the descriptions below to determine which track is right for you.

• Mark O’Connor/Berklee College of Music Summer String Program: Provides an opportunity for string players at an intermediate or advanced level—as well as professional musicians and teachers—to study with world-renowned string players and educators, including resident Berklee faculty.  Applicants under the age of 15 will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Please follow the instructions outlined on the application form for consideration.
• O’Connor Method: Offers a motivational camp experience for students of violin, viola, cello, and double bass for students in grades one through eight. Class levels range from beginners (with at least six months experience) to students in O'Connor Book III, Suzuki Book 4 or equivalent.  Students from other method backgrounds are also welcome. The camp provides an environment in which students learn by ear and through reading printed music. Students will receive individualized schedules according to age, instrument, and level. Electives—including European Chamber Music, How to Jam, Write Your Own Fiddle Tune, Contra-Dancing, Singing, and Improvising—are popular features of this camp.  Supervised free periods give students a chance to interact informally with other students and to form bands and ensembles to practice arranging skills. Daily recitals and all-camp jam sessions provide an outlet for “camp creations.”  A showcase on Friday afternoon will present a sampling of the camp activities.
• Teacher Training Program: Fundamental Level Teacher Training, including 15 hours (two 90-minute periods each day) of in-depth training in underlying principles of American music traditions and step-by-step technique building.  Basic course covers Book I and II  and Orchestra Method.  All instruments are welcome. One graduate credit is available for an extra fee. Advanced training in Book III and beyond (violin) is available separately (one 90-minute period each day). It's possible to take both basic and advanced courses.
