I want to extend to everyone at Berklee College of Music, a sincere welcome to the website of the Department of Physical Plant.
First, for some of you that are not familiar with what function we serve at Berklee, let me try to explain.
Physical Plant, sometimes known as Facilities, is responsible for all maintenance issues, which include; custodial, repairs, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).
Our staff processes your requests or what we call work orders several different ways; the most common way work orders are processed is through the web. You can also send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call extension 2359 and speak with our Service Response person, who will be happy to assist you.
We have designed this website for your convenience and ease of use. It is our intention to assist in making your environment at Berklee, a pleasant atmosphere in which to work. In fact, when doing our job, you most likely will never even think about us! Conversely, when there is a problem, we want to be the first to know.
However, PHP is so much more than cleaning and repairing; we are extremely proactive in our approach to all our mechanical systems, so that we may prevent those calls that tell us something is not working! Our very competent HVAC staff spends 75% of their time working with Preventative Maintenance (PM). It is much easier to prevent a problem than to repair one.
We have an active Custodial project team that works at night, cleaning carpets, waxing floors, and scrubbing bathrooms. The proactive approach designed for the cleanliness and maintenance of mechanical systems is designed to keep you comfortable during your hectic workday. Again, if we can do a better job with any of these issues, please do not hesitate to call.
This brings me to the most important part of PHP, the staff. I say, with the utmost sincerity, that it is a pleasure to be associated with the finest staff that I have ever worked with in my twenty-seven years as a Director. From our Service Response to our Custodial Manager, Supervisors and Staff, along with the project team and HVAC techs, you can be sure that Berklee is in the hands of an extremely dedicated group of professionals.
We will keep you informed of the tremendous strides we are making in the world of sustainability, which includes recycling, and energy management.
We will also attempt to keep you up to date on all Berklee's acquisitions and transitions as they become known to us.
Thank you again, for taking time to visit our website. I hope that you visit often and tell us what you think.
Kevin Anderson, Extension 2037
