The Berklee College of Music Liberal Arts Department is proud to welcome activist and author Frances Moore Lappé. Lappé is the author of 16 books, including the 1971 bestseller Diet for a Small Planet, which awakened an entire generation to the human-made causes of hunger and the significance of our everyday choices. In her latest book, Getting a Grip: Clarity, Creativity, and Courage in a World Gone Mad, Lappé affirms that it is possible to use our creative energy to build a world that promotes democracy, empowers individuals, and emphasizes community.
Frances Moore Lappé will be introduced by Berklee President Roger H. Brown. She will sign her book, Getting a Grip, after the discussion. Pick up a copy at the Berklee Bookstore or at the event.
The Liberal Arts Symposium is free and open to everyone. Students and classes are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
Register by April 18: call 617 747-2552 or email bbailey1@berklee.edu.
Sponsored by the Liberal Arts Department and the offices of Cultural Diversity, Faculty Development, and Institutional Research.
