Registration and Class Schedule

Registration at Berklee is designed to be as uncomplicated as possible and begins with a full day of orientation events geared to familiarize you with the registration process and the various offices involved in servicing your needs.

The first step of registration begins when you arrive for orientation and receive your Personalized Registration Steps Schedule (PReSS) card and your audition packet. Your PReSS card includes a personalized itinerary that lays out where and when you need to take care of your registration requirements, which include: picking up your preliminary schedule, checking your immigration status if you are an international student, paying your tuition and fees, taking your entering student proficiency assessment and exams, participating in a placement audition, and receiving your final schedule.

Berklee also provides an opportunity for late registration and provides you with an opportunity to change your schedule during add/drop.

Your Preliminary Schedule
If your account is in good standing with the Bursar, then you will be issued a preliminary schedule, which will include your student ID number, mailbox number, and mailbox combination. By the end of the registration process, your preliminary schedule will be replaced by your final schedule, which will include the above plus your full schedule of classes.

Immigration Status
If you are an international student, we will need to check your passport, I-20 form and I-94 card to ensure that your F-1 student visa papers are all in order.

International students are also encouraged to attend special meetings during registration that focus on issues relevant to the unique experience of studying in America and at Berklee. Discussions address differences and similarities among cultures--lifestyles, values, expectations, and styles of communication--and are geared toward helping international students adjust to a new social and cultural environment.

Paying Your Tuition and Fees
Your tuition and related fees must be paid in full before you register. However, if your account shows an outstanding balance, you may still take the entering student proficiency assessment and English proficiency exam, and participate in your placement audition.

If you wish to waive the student health insurance, you may submit the necessary waiver form during registration.

Late Registration
Berklee allows students to register during the first week classes are in session. Late registration follows the same basic schedule and process as regular registration, and all regular registration policies apply.

Add/Drop
First-semester students are required to obtain a signature from the Counseling Center or the Office of the Registrar before making any schedule adjustments. In some cases, the signature of the course chair is necessary as well.

Students may add and/or drop classes, labs, and ensembles throughout the first two weeks of classes.

Your Final Schedule
Your final schedule will be delivered to your mailbox the day after registration ends, provided that you have successfully completed all the necessary steps delineated one your PReSS card within the prescribed time frame. If you do not complete all the necessary steps, you will experience some delay in receiving your schedule.

Your final schedule will list your class schedule (including day, time, and room assignment for each class), required books, and other pertinent information. Be sure to check your schedule carefully and notify the Office of the Registrar of any inaccuracies.
