| Boston Magazine, VW Establish A Scholarship For Music Business/Management Students At Berklee
BOSTON, MA, November 18, 2005 Boston magazine and Volkswagen of America, Inc., have donated $20,000.00 for a Berklee College of Music scholarship to be presented annually to a student who is majoring in Music Business/Management and working at the college's student-run label, Heavy Rotation Records. The Boston Magazine Award will be presented to its first recipient for the 2006 fall semester.
The scholarship was established in appreciation for a group of eight Heavy Rotation students who invested their time in a project with Boston magazine to create a free, downloadable sampler of Boston music, from rock to folk to hip-hop, for the October, 2005, music issue. Students helped in identifying bands for the project then worked with their representatives to secure licenses and releases for the songs in the collection. The innovative multimedia project took a year to produce.
