AquaMinds Announces Licensing Agreement with Berklee College of Music

College will provide NoteTaker software to all faculty, staff, and students

BOSTON, MA / PALO ALTO, CA — September 3, 2003 — AquaMinds Software Corporation announced today that Berklee College of Music in Boston has licensed NoteTaker for OS X for use by all faculty, staff, and students. As part of its college-wide migration to OS X, and in support of its commitment to provide excellent tools for its community, Berklee has chosen NoteTaker because of its powerful, yet easy-to-use approach to personal productivity. NoteTaker allows the user to quickly and easily take notes; manage project plans; create simple, full-screen slide presentations; view web page; drag or clip information from other applications; publish and share information using web notebooks; add and annotate using voice memos; and customize the product to fit a digital lifestyle.

"Beginning in September 2003, we will be requiring our students to have wireless laptop computers bundled with appropriate hardware and software to support their music-making and learning needs. NoteTaker will be a great addition to their tools for organizing their thoughts, ideas, assignments, and lives," says David Mash, Berklee's vice president for information technology. "The bundle we have assembled for our students provides them with a wide variety of music productivity tools, and NoteTaker will help them organize and manage their overall college life experience."

"When we introduced NoteTaker last year, we clearly maintained that education and higher learning were our most important markets, and that NoteTaker is an application with the potential to become a daily part of academic life. Today's announcement demonstrates an exciting new partnership for us as NoteTaker becomes a school-wide standard," says Scott Love, President of AquaMinds. "Berklee College of Music is one of the most advanced campus environments today, as demonstrated by their seamless, near transparent use of digital tools and broadband technology. The notion that Berklee students can now carry their entire academic life under their arms or in their backpacks is both amazing and very productive. Equally exciting is the use of NoteTaker by world-class faculty and educators. Berklee is clearly a model of excellence for bringing digital tools and personal computing to a highly creative academic community."

About Berklee College of Music
Berklee College of Music was founded on the revolutionary principle that the best way to prepare students for careers in music was through the study and practice of contemporary music. For over half a century, the college has evolved constantly to reflect the state of the art of music and the music business. With over a dozen performance and non-performance majors, a diverse and talented student body representing 70 plus countries, and a music industry "who's who" of alumni, Berklee is the world's premier learning lab for the music of today – and tomorrow.

Technology plays an increasingly important role in the world around us, and has had a profound impact on the music profession. Technology has changed the way music is composed, performed, produced, recorded, and distributed. The changes have been significant and we continue to live in a time of rapid change and advancement. It has become increasingly clear that Berklee students must be well-versed in computer and music technology to succeed in their careers. Accordingly, beginning in Fall 2003, Berklee College of Music will require all entering students to have an Apple Macintosh laptop computer outfitted with software designed to support their music education and coursework as students.

Berklee has made special arrangements with Apple Computer, and leading software and hardware manufacturers to provide a specific educational bundle to Berklee students at exclusive discount prices. The required computer bundles will be made available through the college during the fall 2003 registration week.
