BOSTON, MA, Sept. 27, 2002 — Berklee College of Music presents an evening of music from some of New York's top alumni performers on Sunday, October 13, 2002, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m at The Cutting Room, 19 West 24th Street, New York, NY. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. For more information on this concert, call (617) 747-2449 or (212) 691-1900.

The New York area is home to numerous thriving Berklee alumni. The evening promises performances by many of these shining stars, by solo and group acts, both acoustic and electric, in a variety of genres of music. Among the performers: jazz vocalist Tiné Bruhn '01 with pianist Daniela Schächter '02 and bassist Marco Panascia '02; pop/rock singer/songwriter Brooke Fox '98; r&b/soul vocalist Sherma '94; singer/songwriter Mollie Bennett '94, and others.

Livingston Taylor will host the event, and will end the evening's festivities by performing a few of his own songs. A prolific singer/songwriter, Taylor serves on the faculty at Berklee, where he teaches the popular course "Stage Performance Techniques." This event promises an evening of exceptional music. The diversity of musical styles featured reflects the curriculum at Berklee, which encompasses all genres of contemporary music.

An elegant lounge and music club, The Cutting Room is a comfortable venue for eclectic music and great food. Opened in December 1999 and located in Manhattan's Flatiron District, The Cutting Room has quickly established itself as a unique, unpretentious place to relax. Co-owners Chris Noth (Sex and the City) and Berklee College of Music alumnus Steve Walter '78 have provided an intimate space for established artists, and a hospitable environment for new artists and music of all varieties, including jazz, rock, chamber music, world beat and singer/songwriters.

Established in 1945, Berklee College of Music is the world's largest independent music college. Over 3,400 students and more than 450 faculty members interact in an environment designed to provide the most complete learning experience possible, including all of the opportunities and challenges presented by a career in the contemporary music industry. More than a college, Berklee has become the world's singular learning lab for the music of today — and tomorrow.
