World-renowned Faculty Will Also Be Featured
BOSTON, August 8, 2000 -- Former 'Alice Cooper' guitarist Vinnie Moore and 'Room Full of Blues' founder Duke Robillard will headline Berklee College of Music's annual "Berklee Summer Guitar Sessions" next week, performing in concerts on Thursday and Wednesday evenings, respectively, for the unbeatable ticket price of $4.00. A week of clinics, classes, and concerts from Sunday (8/13) through Friday (8/18), the "Berklee Summer Guitar Sessions" will include several events -- many of them free -- that are open to the public.
Duke Robillard will appear with his band on Wednesday (8/16) at 8:15 p.m. in the Berklee Performance Center. Vinnie Moore will present a rock concert featuring faculty guitarist Jon Finn on Thursday (8/17) at 8:15 in the BPC. The Berklee Performance Center is located at 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston. Tickets for evening concerts in the Berklee Performance Center are $4.00 -- $1.00 for seniors -- and are available at the box office, (617) 747-2261. Some of Berklee's world-renowned guitar faculty will perform during the week. On Sunday (8/13) the Norman Zocher and Abby Aronson Group will present a free fusion concert from 3 to 4:15 p.m. in the BPC. On Tuesday (8/15) Mick Goodrick will present a free concert of contemporary jazz, featuring faculty musicians Joe Hunt on drums and Bruce Gertz on bass, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the BPC. Later Tuesday evening at 8:15 p.m., Rick Peckham and Bruce Bartlett will be featured at the BPC ($4.00).
Every evening from Monday through Thursday, there will be free faculty performances from 7 to 8 p.m. in the David Friend Recital Hall, 921 Boylston Street. Events include a contemporary rock concert with Scotty Johnson and Joe Musella (Monday); a South American concert by Aquiles Baez (Tuesday); Jim Kelly Guitar Workshop (Wednesday); and Larry Baione jazz concert (Thursday).
