JAZZ VOCALIST KEVIN MAHOGANY TO JOIN BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC VOICE DEPARTMENT

BOSTON, December 20, 1999 -- Following his well-attended visiting artist clinic during Berklee College of Music's "Voice Week" in November, Warner Bros. recording artist Kevin Mahogany will join Berklee's Voice Department faculty in January 2000 and teach two classes throughout the semester: Stage Performance Workshop/Jazz Standards and Advanced Vocal Performance.

Winner of both the Down Beat and Jazziz 1998 Readers' Polls for Best Male Vocalist, Mahogany has three releases on the Warner Bros. label: Kevin Mahogany (1996), Another Place, Another Time (1997), and My Romance (1999). The Kansas City native portrayed Big Joe Turner in the Robert Altman film Kansas City.

Mahogany joins 29 other seasoned voice professionals in Berklee's Voice Department, including the Manhattan Transfer's Cheryl Bentyne; Catherine Russell, who's toured with Steely Dan, Madonna, Paul Simon and Chaka Khan; Gabrielle Goodman, who's backed up Roberta Flack, Chaka Khan, and Nancy Wilson; Grammy nominee Donna McElroy, who's sung on gold and platinum recordings by Amy Grant, Kenny Rogers, Reba McEntire, and John Tesh; Armsted Christian, who's performed with Patti Austin, Regina, Carter, Diana Ross, and Special EFX; and Marlon Saunders, who's worked with Bobby McFerrin, Diane Reeves, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Phoebe Snow, Patti Austin, and Shania Twain.
