Berklee College of Music announced that for the fourth consecutive year Natixis Global Asset Management (NGAM), one of the world’s leading asset managers, will be the presenting sponsor of Berklee’s 2014 Summer in the City series, which includes more than 200 free outdoor music performances scheduled from May through September in neighborhoods throughout Metro Boston. The sponsorship aligns with the 2014 Jazz Diplomacy Project, launched by NGAM in April, which creates opportunities to celebrate jazz and bring together thought leaders to explore solutions to challenges facing the world today. The 2014 Summer in the City series culminates with the free Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival on September 27, where NGAM will again present a $5,000 scholarship to a student musician. The full concert schedule is available at berklee.edu/events/summer.

“Summer in the City is one of our very best contributions to the local community with free performances all summer long by the world’s next chart toppers and Grammy Award winners,” said Berklee President Roger H. Brown. "We have forged a strong and productive partnership with Natixis Global Asset Management over the past few years, and we are honored to continue working together.”

Headquartered in Paris and Boston, NGAM provides investment solutions to institutions, intermediaries, and individuals. “Our partnership with Berklee College of Music aligns with our efforts to help strengthen the global community by bringing together people from all walks of life and all around the world through the shared experience of live music and music education,” said John Hailer, president and chief executive officer, Natixis Global Asset Management – the Americas and Asia. “We believe that a commitment to support youth is an investment in the future, and we are pleased to continue our tradition of awarding a $5,000 Natixis-Berklee City Music Scholarship to a student musician.”

The Berklee Summer in the City concerts bring neighborhoods alive with free programs of pop, rock, jazz, and Latin music presented by some of Berklee’s most promising young artists. The Boston-area concerts take place in vibrant destinations throughout the city from the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Rose Kennedy Greenway, Georges Island, and the Boston Improvement District to communities with strong cultural identities ranging from Jamaica Plain and Roxbury to East Boston and the South End. Just outside of Boston, audiences can take in free Summer in the City shows in locations like Chestnut Hill, Harvard Square’s Longfellow House and Club Passim, Salem’s Derby Square, the Charlestown Navy Yard, and more.

On September 27, the 2014 Summer in the City series comes to a close with Boston’s biggest block party. Spanning six blocks on the Roxbury-South End border, starting at Massachusetts Avenue, the Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival features three stages of live performances, family activities, and booths with crafts and food. The festival, now in its 14th year, is free and open to the public.
