Hiromi will play NPR's Toast of the Nation as part of Boston's First Night celebration.

Berklee wraps up the year with an exciting concert: a live broadcast of alumna Hiromi's Sonicbloom on NPR's Toast of the Nation from the BPC. A part of Boston's First Night celebration, the concert is free with a First Night button and repeated twice that night, so you can't miss it.

There's a lot of December before the 31st, though, and Berklee fills it with shows across campus. On December 3 saxophone legend Wayne Shorter celebrates his 75th birthday with a Berklee concert. The college's first-ever poetry slam takes place on December 9, with special guest artist Regie Gibson. And Berklee student Richard Saunder's Urban Appeal performs at Cafe 939 December 12. Check out all that and more through our events calendar.

Read on to find out about how Berklee business students are trying to get professors Donna McElroy and Jetro da Silva the chance to play at president-elect Barack Obama's inauguration; how Berklee City Music was recognized at the White House; and what visiting artists Lindsey Buckingham, Don Was, and Cesar Camargo Mariano had to say to Berklee students.
