Krauss, Astatke Perform with Students
Bluegrass virtuoso Alison Krauss and Ethiopian musician Mulatu Astatke, both honorary doctorate recipients, took the stage with students at the May 11 annual commencement concert, a day before nearly 900 students graduated from Berklee. Eagles Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit also received honorary doctor of music degrees.
Student Albino Mbie is one of the many artists performing in Berklee's Summer in the City series. His compositions and performances incorporate his musical experiences from his native Mozambique, the U.S., and other places around the world, to create a unique Afro-jazz sound.
