If you're unfamiliar with RSS and news feeds, please see the information that follows.

What is RSS?

The term RSS refers to a syndication format, sometimes known as Really Simple Syndication (or Rich Site Summary). RSS feeds provide simple content—a headline, a brief description, and an embedded link to the full content—which may be syndicated to an RSS reader, or a webpage that aggregates such feeds (like you might see on Google's or Yahoo news areas).

From a user's perspective, RSS technologies make you aware of new information on web sites to which you subscribe. So if you go to the same websites frequently, this technology will tell you when there's new content there for you to see, rather than require you to go find out for yourself. If you're then interested in seeing a full story, you just follow the link to the site itself.

vWhat do I need to view the Berklee news feed?

You will need an RSS reader to view feeds. There are many RSS readers available for download on the internet; the search engine Google.com provides a directory of RSS sreaders available for download.

RSS readers allow you to subscribe to RSS feeds, much like web browsers allow you to view web pages. The RSS reader will automatically update on a regular schedule and display the new articles from the feeds you have added to the RSS reader. Some RSS readers notify you when a new item has appeared from one of your feeds.

What kind of content does Berklee News syndicate via RSS?

The News@berklee.edu feed will let you know about any new content that is added to News@berklee.edu. This feed is free of charge to use for individuals and non-profit organizations for non-commercial use. Attribution (included in each feed) is required.
