Highly touted composer, producer, and arranger Bill Whelan brings his fusion of interests in Irish music to Berklee on April 11, 2013 for the Signature Music Series, when he'll perform with Berklee students and guest artists. Whelan is well-known as composer, arranger, and lyricist of Riverdance, a theatrical show that earned him a 1997 Grammy for Best Musical Show Album. He also boasts a range of impressive producing and arranging credits, including work with U2, Kate Bush, and Van Morrison.

The Music of Bill Whelan concert—to be produced by Whelan—will feature a range of musical styles, including traditional Irish music, classical, and rock. He will also premiere a new composition, one that he wrote specifically for the Berklee show  and that will be performed by a student vocal group. This week's podcast features a composition from Whelan's Connemara Suite, performed by the Irish Chamber Orchestra.
