Master in Contemporary Performance Student Profile: Priscilla Vela

Conexus scholarship recipient and master in contemporary performance student Priscilla Vela talks about her experience at Berklee in Valencia.

Priscilla Vela is a student of the master in contemporary performance. Vela is a prominent classically trained upright bassist from Madrid, Spain. Queen Sofía of Spain gave her the award for the most outstanding student of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in 1999-2000. Vela has been part of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and the European Union Youth Orchestra, among others. Since 2006, she has been a member of the Orquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana of the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia.

As a student, Vela is involved in different projects including an experimental meditation group called Zaumd and a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern band called the Electrified Wood Project.

In 2012, Vela received a scholarship from the Fundación Conexus to study for her master's degree in Contemporary Performance. This scholarship is awarded to applicants to the contempary performance program who are from Madrid. The Fundación Conexus is an organization that promotes the cultural, social, and economic exchange between Madrid and Valencia.
