Berklee Alumni Earn Two Academy Award Nominations

Alumni get Oscar nods for composing and sound mixing.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominated two Berklee alumni for two Oscars. Three-time Academy Award–winner and composer Howard Shore '68, who wrote the score for Hugo, is nominated for Best Music (Original Score). Two-time Academy Award–winner and sound mixer Michael Semanick '85 is nominated for Best Sound Mixing for his work on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. 

In addition to Shore and Semanick's nominations, composer Gunnard Doboze '00 scored the HBO special Saving Face, which is nominated in the category of Best Documentary Short. 

The 84th annual Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 and broadcast on ABC at 7:00 p.m. ET and 4:00 p.m. PT.
