PODCAST: Ron Reid

Berklee professor Ron Reid plays Caribbean folk, Afro-Cuban, and jazz with his Sunsteel Sextet at Jazz at the Fort in August.

A native of Trinidad and Tobago, faculty bassist, steel drummer, and composer Ron Reid has established himself as a master of calypso and soca music over the past 30 years. His Sunsteel Sextet is made up entirely of Berklee faculty and alumni. Together, they play a mix of Caribbean folk, Afro-Cuban, and jazz melodies. Along with student drummer Jazz Robertson, they'll give a free show at Jazz at the Fort in early August as part of Berklee's Summer Concert Series. Get a preview with "Savannah Dance."
