The Beehive, Boston's hottest new music club, presents a free showcase for emerging talent from the halls of Berklee College of Music, Tuesday nights, June 5–July 10. Performances will range from jazz, rock, and r&b to folk, Latin, and Celtic. All concerts begin at 9:00 p.m. Dinner, 5:30 p.m.–1:00 a.m. Bar until 2:00 a.m. The Beehive is at 541 Tremont Street. June 12 – Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage, who grew up in Nigeria and attended high school in London, is a r&b/soul singer known for her electric performances. Before coming to Berklee, she spent years honing her stage presence as a background vocalist for George Michael, Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Kelly Clarkson, Sheila E, and others. She has also shared stages with the likes of Sting, Destiny's Child, Black Eyed Peas, and Robbie Williams. Savage, who just graduated from Berklee, will release a new album shortly.

June 19 – Eleonora Bianchini

Vocalist Eleonora Bianchini, from Perugia, Italy, attended Berklee's summer school at the Umbria Jazz Festival and was awarded a scholarship for full-time study at the college's Boston campus. At Berklee, she developed a unique singing style by combining her Italian roots with Latin and Brazilian influences. Bianchini has recorded with Danilo Perez; performed with Oscar Stagnaro, Leo Blanco, and Dan Moretti; and returned to the Umbria Jazz Festival the past four summers to teach Berklee's gospel choir course. She is currently recording a new CD that features her own compositions in different South American music styles, as well as lyrics in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian.

June 26 – Ricardo Vogt and Leala Cyr

Brazilian-born Ricardo Vogt is both an outstanding singer and guitarist. At age 9—his first year playing guitar—he won a Brazilian songwriting competition, and at 16 he became the lead singer of the Cassino Orchestra Show Band, an 11-piece touring ensemble. After two years attending the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, he was awarded Berklee's World Tour Scholarship and moved to Boston. Vogt, who is endorsed by Godin guitars, has been a guest clinician at Okalahoma and San Diego State Universities.

Wisconsin native Leala Cyr is a vocalist and trumpeter who performs a wide variety of styles, specializing in Brazilian jazz. Her achievements include being voted Best Jazz Vocalist in Down Beat magazine's 2005 student music awards, and performing as a vocalist and trumpeter at the prestigious Essentially Ellington Competition at Lincoln Center. Cyr has shared stages with Juinga, John Secada, Esperanza Spalding, and others.

July 3 – Maeve Gilchrist

Harpist Maeve Gilchrist was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. She began playing piano at seven and soon picking up the clarsach (Celtic harp). Gilchrist studied at the Edinburgh Music School before winning a scholarship to attend Berklee. She has played and recorded with artists including Matt Glaser, Kathy Mattea, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Jamey Haddad and has performed in countries around the world. Gilchrist is currently performing with bassist Andres Rotmistrofsky and percussionist Marcelo Woloski, both of Argentina. Blending Scottish roots and jazz influences with Latin American rhythms, the trio creates a unique and multicultural sound.

July 10 – Jazz Revelation Records CD Release Party

Berklee's student-run jazz label, Jazz Revelation Records, presents a concert to celebrate the release of its fourth CD The New Old School. Performing will be JR Records artists Jake Hertzog and Tantanakuy.

Jake Hertzog is an outstanding contemporary jazz guitarist, composer, and bandleader from Champaign, IL, who graduated from Berklee in 2007. In 2006, Hertzog was declared the grand-prize winner of the Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition, held at the Montreux Jazz Festival. He will perform at the festival again this year in July. Hertzog has performed with several big bands, and released two albums under his own name, Rate of Ascension and Expressions, which are both available online. His music is also featured on the Jazz Revelation Records CD Ars Nova.

Tantanakuy is a group led by Argentinean composers Marcelo Woloski (percussion) and Andres Rot (bass), and features Italian vocalist Eleonora Bianchini. Their music blends Argentinean, Brazilian, Afro Cuban, Afro Peruvian, and Uruguayan rhythms with jazz harmonies. The band’s versatility have placed them in high demand on and off campus, performing in numerous shows at the prestigious Berklee Performance Center, as well as Boston's Ryles and Regattabar nightclubs.
